Perfectionism Is Not a Plan: Releasing Survival Mode Before 2025
You don’t have to finish perfectly to be worthy of rest.
December is filled with “finish strong” pressure—but for Black women, perfectionism often isn’t about achievement. It’s about safety. Over-preparing, over-functioning, and over-delivering become survival strategies in workplaces that are quick to penalize mistakes and slow to recognize contributions. The cost? Burnout, weathering, and the erosion of well-being.
In this session, we’ll unpack how perfectionism shows up for Black women, why it’s not a personal failing but a systemic harm, and what it means to release it before stepping into 2025.
We’ll highlight BWT’s Burnout Tool and Weathering Action Guide to help participants disrupt the cycle and reclaim rest, restoration, and agency.

Trust Fails: How Broken Trust Drains Black Women’s Well-Being at Work
When trust breaks, thriving stops. Let’s name where trust was withheld in 2024—and what it will take to restore it.
Every January, we’re told to set big resolutions, push harder, and do more. But for many Black women, that pressure collides with the reality of 2024: burnout, perfectionism, and being hypervisible for the hard stuff while overlooked for the good. Before rushing into resolutions, it’s time to pause and ask: What are you planning from—and what are you ready to release?
Join Ericka Hines, Founder of Black Women Thriving, for a 20-minute conversation on how to set goals without grind. We’ll introduce BWT’s Thriving Framework and preview how to plan across the 5 Thriving Pillars—Vitality, Learning, Agency, Connection, and Meaning—so that 2025 isn’t about proving more, but about thriving more.

Goals Without the Grind
Because proving more isn’t the plan—thriving more is.
In 2024, over 312,000 Black women left the labor force—a powerful signal about what it costs to stay in workplaces that overuse, under-support, and undervalue. At the heart of those exits is a crisis of trust. For those who remained, trust was strained daily: hypervisible for the hard stuff—called on in crisis, asked to fix culture, expected to absorb harm—but invisible when it mattered most, in recognition, promotions, and real support.
Join Ericka Hines, Founder of Black Women Thriving, for a 20-minute reflection on how broken trust shows up not just in morale, but in the well-being of Black women at work. We’ll introduce BWT’s Trust as an Organizational Value Tool and explore what it means to release survival-mode expectations before stepping into 2025. Because when trust breaks, thriving stops—and restoring it benefits everyone.
