Work-life balance policies such as paid parental leave and flexible work arrangements are often designed with white, middle-class women in mind.
For Black women, who may also face racial biases in how caregiving is viewed, these policies need to be more inclusive and supportive.
Action:
Provide flexible work arrangements that do not penalize Black women for taking time off for caregiving responsibilities.
Ensure that career breaks do not prevent Black women from receiving raises or promotions.
