Protege 

  • Leadership Potential: Evaluate the protégés' demonstrated ability to lead, such as past experiences in project management or team leadership. Look for qualities like initiative, strategic thinking, and the ability to motivate others.

  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: Assess the protégés' actions and attitudes towards promoting diversity and inclusion. Consider their involvement in diversity initiatives and their willingness to challenge biases and stereotypes.

  • Alignment with Organizational Values: Ensure that the protégés' values align with those of the organization. Look for individuals who understand and support the organization's mission and core values.

  • Promise and Motivation for Career Advancement: Focus on protégés who show promise and motivation for advancing their careers. Look for individuals who actively seek opportunities for growth, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and are open to feedback.

  
For Sponsors 

  • Track Record in Mentorship and Advocacy:

    • Prioritize sponsors with a proven history of effective mentorship and advocacy.

    • Look for individuals who have successfully supported others' career development and have an understanding of the unique challenges faced by Black women and Women of Color.

  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion:

    • Assess sponsors' past actions and attitudes towards diversity and inclusion.

    • Look for individuals who actively promote diversity in the workplace and are committed to addressing biases and stereotypes.

  • Alignment with Organizational Values:

    • Ensure that sponsors' values align with those of the organization.

    • Look for individuals who are aligned with the organization's mission and core values.

  • Awareness of Barriers Faced by Black Women and Women of Color:

    • Look for sponsors who are aware of the systemic biases and cultural stereotypes faced by Black women and Women of Color.

    • Prioritize individuals who are committed to actively countering these barriers and advocating for equity and inclusion.
